Linking seniors with resources to meet their needs
BCI provides bilingual professional psychosocial assessments for the elderly in Southwest Detroit and leverages the gifts and talents of volunteers from Southeastern Michigan to fulfill each identified unmet need.
Comprehensive services range from professional case coordination by staff to volunteer services such as friendly visits to reduce isolation, supportive transportation to medical appointments, daily phone monitoring, holiday remembrances, food delivery, minor home repairs, lawn and snow maintenance, ramp building, neighborhood revitalization and special supportive services to grandparents raising grandchildren

Intergenerational programming
BCI is proud to announce the launch of its newest intergenerational program, LINC (Linking Intergenerational Neighbors who Care). LINC engages youth of the Chadsey/Condon neighborhood to “link” elders in their neighborhood to services and resources to meet the elders‘ needs.
The mission of the LINC Project is to provide a safe environment where people can age in dignity, while local young people are exposed to possible job fields, career opportunities, and the transferable skills needed to build a positive future for themselves and their communities. Most importantly, LINC creates a sustainable community that thrives off of the energy and wisdom of all its members.
For information on getting your son or daughter involved with the LINC Experience, please contact Terry E. Whitfield with Bridging Communities Incorporated at 313-361-6377, or email at terry.whitfield@bridgingcommunities.org.
