In the late 90’s the Board of Directors and staff of Bridging Communities, Incorporated (BCI) made the decision to expand the organization’s scope of work. Recognizing that elders’ quality of life is directly impacted by the community where they reside, the organization started working on stabilizing the neighborhoods of southwest Detroit. Often working collaboratively with other non-profit organizations in southwest Detroit, BCI’s neighborhood stabilization staff has completed housing, community planning, park development, and greenway projects in various neighborhoods of southwest Detroit over the past decade. These neighborhoods include: Springwells Village, 48217, Claytown, Core Cities, and Delray.
